With guest trainer Liz Pemberton (aka ‘The Black Nursery Manager’)
Three 90-minute sessions: 7:00pm – 8:30pm on the 10th, 17th and 24th June.
Session 1 of 3: Statutory and Non-Statutory Guidance (10th June)
This first session will look closely at how some of the statutory and non-statutory guidance can support us to work towards anti-racist practice. This session will closely examine how the Development Matters (2020) and Birth to Five Matters Document (March 2021) can be interpreted to support our journey towards anti-racist practice.
Session 2 of 3: Conversations (17th June)
How do we prepare ourselves for unexpected conversations about race when children ask? This session will look at language and how we can best educate ourselves to ensure that we are equipped. This session will also look at how we engage families appropriately.
Session 3 of 3: Resources (24th June)
How your resources should be audited to ensure anti-racist practice in the setting, how can we ensure that our practice goes beyond having black dolls and a range of different coloured crayons. How do we move towards a whole team approach to continuously work towards creating an anti-racist environment?
