
New to Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) in Your Nursery

This is an introductory session to support you to embed the Early Years Foundation Stage in your setting whilst ensuring that children and families are at the heart of good practice. We will explore the four themes of EYFS, the Key Person role, Characteristics of Effective Learning and consider how to develop an effective learning environment in the context of a Reception class.
During the session participants will have opportunities to:
- Explore the 4 themes of the EYFS and how these work as part of everyday statutory practice in early years
- Reflect on the Ofsted definition of Early years teaching in supporting children’s wellbeing, learning and development
- Identify examples of the characteristics of effective learning in practice (using film clips) and how these are best supported
- Consider how all areas of learning in the EYFS can be developed through an effective and inspiring learning environment

Parking
St. Pauls Children's Centre: There is no on-site parking but parking is available on the road for £1 an hour for a maximum of 3 hours, or in Cabot Circus which is 5-minute walk from the St. Pauls Children's Centre.
