Continuing Professional Development

We offer a comprehensive range of CPD training opportunities for EYs practitioners, teachers and leaders to meet local, regional and national needs and priorities.

Our Flagship CPD Programme

This includes a portfolio of short courses developed annually and delivered by our expert trainers. These courses are open to all EYs practitioners and leaders through our online booking system.  We have moved many of our courses online. As well as Bristol based EYs staff we have participants from all over the UK and internationally.

In 2020-21, despite the pandemic, we delivered CPD training to over 500 EYs participants. Of those 500 participants, 99% rated our CPD as Excellent or Good.

Annual Development Programmes

We provide annual development programmes involving 8 – 10 sessions with specific areas of focus, usually only available to targeted settings, but providing a model that we can offer elsewhere.

If you are a local authority, academy trust or nursery chain that would be interested in us running a development programme for you then contact: anna.kawar@bristol-schools.uk

Feedback

The delivery was excellent and the balance was really well managed. I enjoyed the opportunities to discuss with other professionals in the breakout room as well as have directed thinking time during slides. Use of videos was really helpful to see concrete examples.

Feedback on Quality Interactions course

This made me think, “How different reception is to Year 3 – what I need to change/learn about before September but also all the experiences and knowledge I can take down with me!

Feedback on New to EYFS course

I loved the practical strategies, including story squares and the PACE framework for those children that find it particularly difficult to regulate feelings.

Feedback on Emotional Curriculum and the Environment course

I will consult with my team about how best to make the setting as inclusive as possible and how we are managing our interactions to support children with English Additional Language. I will share the strategies with the nursery as a whole.

Feedback on Understanding EAL Learners

Dealing with conflict in this way will ensure that the children are at the centre of our problem solving. Thus empowering the children and supporting them to develop skills needed to undertake conflict resolution on their own and support their self regulation.
